Bridging the divide: Advocacy communications that touch home and heart

Communicating about water policy can often feel dry and complicated. But to connect with policymakers and the constituents they care about, we have to break down those barriers and make complex issues feel emotionally resonant. Yes, even to lawmakers and other policy nerds! Participants discussed the Rio Grande International Study Center (RGISC) campaign to repeal Section 102 of the REAL ID Act that waives dozens of environmental and property rights protections to speed up construction of border wall along the Mexico border and used this case study to develop the building blocks of an advocacy communications plan.
